Outdated: Please use version 2: [link]

Version 1.0.0.8: code optimizations, automatically sets correct language

This tiny app enables videos as desktop background - on non-Vista systems!
Easy 3-Step with instructions:
- Choose the video you want to use
- Create the "DreamHTML"
- Configure the ActiveDesktop item.
> Two languages: English and German

Minimum System Requirements:
> 800 MHz CPU
> Windows 95c - Windows XP (Vista & 7 incompatible*)
> .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (included in Setup)
> 1 MB free disk space

Recommended System Requirements:
> 2000 MHz CPU or better
> Windows 2000 - XP (Vista & 7 incompatible*)
> .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (included in Setup)
> 1 MB free disk space + free space for videos you want to use
> Video acceleration (ATI Radeon 9500 / nVidia GeForce 4 or better)

Best System Requirements:
> 3000 MHz DualCore CPU or better
> Windows XP
> .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (included in Setup)
> 1 MB free disk space + free space for videos you want to use
> Video acceleration (ATI Radeon X1600 / nVidia GeForce 7 or better)

*Vista & 7 do not support ActiveDesktop controls anymore. The program will not run on these systems. Here some hints for applying video-like wallpapers on Vista and 7 systems:
Vista Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Enterprise users:
> I recommend the Screensaver-As-Desktop-Wallpaper hint [link]
> Or use a demo version of Stardock DeskScapes [link]
Vista Ultimate users:
> Use the real Dreamscene found in Windows Ultimate Extras.

If you have any problems or even ideas, please let me know them!

O.K. I tested it and got some problems: The video is not shown in the area of the "ported" Sidebar. You must turn off the sidebar to get a fullscreenvideo. All my desktopicons lost their position und must be rearranged (not really a problem). That`s all.
Runs on slow computers (tested). I would say if you can run MP11 you can use this, cause it is only the mediaplayer that works in the background.
Good work and thanks for this.

Sounds cool, but I'm not sure if it'll be like the rest of those Dreamscene attempts, with really low quality backgrounds and take up alot of RAM...

Would you recommend it? :)

Well, use the original Vista Dreamscene videos or some from dreamscene.org, it will rock! Full quality, except shadows under icon texts ;) internal, its a Windows Media Player Control which gets stretched over the full screen ;)
:iconpacmani:
Well, the ported sidebar may use alpha transparency backgrounds, and transparency effects do not work over video surfaces (you might have noticed hard black cursor shadow when hovering a video on XP).
:iconpacmani:
You probably chose the wrong button of the activeDesktop-control (its the most left button on the right side, the middle button on the right rearranges icons... i will do a pictured or an automated instruction soon ;))

Thank you for your replies. I have just figured it out. I used Dreamrender all the time and it costs much ressources. So now i have this and it works good. Can recommend it to everybody.
:iconpacmani:
thank you, im updating it mostly every day, just have a look at the current preview (its already a bit automated!)
:icontsr-pr:
Oh right, sounds awesome when you say it like that! Might try it some time... :)
